The Opportunity

Howard Hughes Holdings owns, manages, and develops award-winning master planned communities, as well as operating properties and development opportunities including: The Seaport in New York; Downtown Columbia, Maryland; The Woodlands, The Woodlands Hills, and Bridgelandin the Greater Houston, Texas area; Summerlin, Las Vegas; Douglas Ranch, Phoenix and Ward Villagein Honolulu, Hawaii.

As we continue our commitment in creating innovative placemaking we have formed Seaport Entertainment. Seaport Entertainment, a newly formed division comprising the company's entertainment-related assets in New York and Las Vegas-including the Seaport in Lower Manhattan and the Las Vegas Aviators Triple-A Minor League Baseball team, as well as the company's ownership stake in Jean-Georges Restaurants and its 80% interest in the air rights above the Fashion Show Mall.

Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. is establishing Seaport Entertainment with the intention of completing its spinoff as a publicly traded company by year-end 2024. The planned separation of Seaport Entertainment from Howard Hughes would allow the new company to operate independently as a pure-play entertainment enterprise, equipped with a robust team of industry leaders to ensure its long-term success.

The Role

Seaport Entertainment is looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to be a key member of our accounting team for our rapidly growing company. Partnering directly with the CAO, the Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, oversight and execution of SEC filings and obligations, ownership and improvement of financial processes, and the development of a high performing accounting team. The Financial Reporting Manager must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of leader and should enjoy a fast-paced environment.

She/he will lead efforts to develop accounting and finance workflows which include financial reporting, general accounting including month-end close related activities, treasury operations, revenue operations (including revenue recognition), AR/AP, procurement, G&A operations, corporate expense management, public company reporting, and stock plan administration.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Manage the preparation and distribution of periodic SEC filings, including 10Q, 10K, Proxy Filings, etc.

  • Coordinate the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met and reconciliations are performed accurately.

  • Prepare company consolidation, including eliminating intercompany balances, cash flows and equity roll forward.

  • Lead the preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders, including executive management.

  • Manage corporate cash, expenses, and the general ledger as it relates to corporate entities.

  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.

  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, assessing their potential impact on financial reporting practices and recommending appropriate actions.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to cross-functional teams on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity based compensation, and business combinations.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial reporting processes, enhance efficiency, and maintain the highest standards of quality.

  • Mentor and develop a team of financial reporting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on financial reporting matters, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

About You

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or through progressive experience in financial reporting in a publicly traded multi-unit Restaurant, Hospitality, Gaming, or Real Estate company preferred.

  • Expertise in SEC/GAAP rules and regulations.

  • BS or equivalent in a related field; advanced degree (MBA, etc.) a plus; CPA required.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Foundational business acumen of the restaurant, hospitality, gaming, and/or real estate industry.

  • Experience in internal control design and financial process optimization; prior Sarbanes-Oxley implementation preferred.

  • Understanding of culture, control environment, and perceptions associated with a publicly listed company/SEC registrant

  • A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaboration.

Compensation: $140,000. - $175,000. Plus 20% Bonus and Equity
