Job Description

Think Consulting is seeking a Controller to join a direct access trading firm specializing in domestic equities trading in NY, NY. This is a hybrid role working on site Tuesday-Thursday.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the CFO, the Controller/FINOP/Deputy CFO will oversee day-to-day accounting operations of our self-clearing proprietary trading firm, including but not limited to:

  • Payroll processing and administration, including ADP Workforce Now Time & Attendance administration, new employee set-up, payroll audits, payroll tax reporting and reconciliations, etc.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all accounting reports and financials, including FOCUS filings.
  • Monthly reconciliations, bookkeeping, wire requests, and travel & entertainment expense oversight and accounting.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with net capital requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies, processes, and systems for optimal controls.
  • Overseeing monthly close of company books, general ledger, and reporting financial results.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly management financial health reports, including revenue/expenses and financial comments with recommendations.
  • Experience in creating projections, rolling revenue calculations, and Pro-Formas.
  • Handling treasury functions for the firm and affiliates.
  • Coordinating audits and establishing/improving accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Working with upper management to identify and resolve Client-related financial issues and suggesting procedure changes as necessary.
  • Account Payables/Receivables accounting and expense allocations.
  • Assisting in managing new and existing banking relationships and administration.
  • Assisting in data gathering for tax filings and annual audit support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; CPA preferred.
  • Series 27 a plus, willingness to take the test required.
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus.
  • Previous accounting experience at a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or financial services industry preferred.
  • QuickBooks or equivalent accounting platforms and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Prior payroll experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of accounting experience.

Salary: $180K to $200K plus an annual bonus of 10% to 15%.
