Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits seeks a Senior Category Analyst. The Senior Category Analyst will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's success by providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations. Expertise in market analysis, consumer behavior, and category management will drive growth and optimize sales strategies within our strategic convenience chain accounts. The position will also leverage data tools and insights to develop syndicated national selling stories for our award-winning brands and initiatives.

Location is flexible but must be in the Eastern or Central time zone.

Responsibilities:

  • Category Management: Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies for Military and Convenience. Integrates data from multiple resources (syndicated data, panel, depletions, COGNOS, primary & secondary research) to develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data analysis techniques to extract actionable insights. Make informed recommendations for product selection and placement. Create fact-based selling stories for presentations to buyers.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports on category performance, market trends and KPIs. Present findings to key stakeholders, including retailers and internal senior management. Collaborate with marketing and sales team to align on selling stories and strategies.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on product markets, competitors, and industry trends. Analyze consumer behavior patterns, purchasing preferences, and market dynamics. Identify growth opportunities and potential areas for improvement.
  • Syndicated National Selling Stories: Build and deliver best-in-class selling stories for Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits brands and initiatives utilizing fact-based selling and storytelling. Leverage data insights and research to uncover opportunities and utilize multiple resources to build selling materials.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies. Upskill in data analytics, category management, and market research. Foster culture of innovation and excellence within the team.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years as a Category Analyst with experience in CPG
  • Location flexible - Eastern or Central time zone required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Understanding of Circana/Nielsen syndicated data and Consumer Panel data
  • Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook required
  • Experience with convenience channel and/or center of excellence role highly preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, math and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in data extraction, analysis, and presentation creation/delivery is a must
  • Ability to leverage data and insights to tell compelling fact-based selling stories
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and concepts; ability to actively participate and contribute to a cross-functional team environment
  • Tendency to be a proactive self-starter and with drive to take ownership of projects and see through to completion
  • Knowledge of Beverage Alcohol Industry a plus
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
