Under the direction of the Clinical Program Director, the Program Manager for Women's Health and Childbirth Education will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of these specific defined functional areas. The Education Program Manager assists the Director in providing leadership, education, staff development, patient education maintaining Performance Improvement Programs and regulatory readiness for defined function area/ program. This position is also accountable for the provision of quality outcome-based educational programs and practice support, which promote initial and ongoing competency and continuous development of nursing staff. This position has educational accountability for the standardization of programs across all of Women's Services and patient outreach education. The Program Manager for Women's Services creates an environment that promotes professional practice and strives for excellence in all aspects of nursing process and Patient Services initiatives. The Program Manager provides clinical expertise integrating quality care across the women's health continuum and is responsible for the overall education and rofessional development of the Women's Services Nursing staff and patient education programs.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Provides leadership, expertise, and support in planning, promoting and ensuring delivery of education for Women's Nursing Staff across the continuum in the Women's Service Line in accordance with agreed business and educational plans.
    • 1.1 Acts as an educational resource, sharing current literature and research. Ensures that practice is in accordance with AWHONN standards.
  • 2. Promotes and directs evidence-based women's nursing practice to optimize safe quality nursing care.
    • 2.1 Demonstrates expert understanding of best practices in Perinatal Services
  • 3. Leads and Coordinates Women's Services Nursing staff nursing research at YNHH
    • 3.1 Critiques and communicates research findings to Women's Services Nursing staff for use in clinical decision-making.
  • 4. Promotes the development of professional practice of nursing students
    • 4.1 Works with schools of nursing to offer a Women's Health experience for both undergraduates and graduate students
  • 5. Leads performance Improvement Initiatives
    • 5.1 Develops and implements processes that lead to improved quality outcomes in pernatal nursing care.
  • 6. Provides support to individual nursing staff, to enhance their professional development.
    • 6.1 Monitors number of staff in specialty or nursing organizations and amount of staff with national certifications.
  • 7. Promotes Professional self-development
    • 7.1 Maintains a current knowledge of relevant issues, trends and practices.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

BSN and Masters Degree required. Current Connecticut State licensure

EXPERIENCE

At least 5-10 years women's clinical practice experience. 3 years current staff development or health care education experience. Relevant experience developing and implementing clinical educational programs in a comparable setting

Current Connecticut licensure

Ability to support and oversee the Boutique coordinator in his/her grant responsibilities and grow and develop a community outreach educational strategy within CT to ensure we are doing our part in supporting the needs of Women.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Exposure to biohazardous blood and body fluids. Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting required
