Under the direction of the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room, and in collaboration with the physician surgical staff, and the
established guidelines, provides support as an RNFA during surgical procedures. The RNFA is a perioperative registered nurse who:
* Works in collaboration with the surgeon and other healthcare team members to achieve optional patient outcomes
* Has acquired the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded role of RNFA defined practice
* Interoperatively practices at the discretion of the surgeon
* Does not concurrently function as a scrub person.
Adheres to AORN standards of practice for RNFA.
