  • Lead as the site champion and a global partner to drive the System Transformation Eppendorf Program (STep)
  • Analyzing company processes and procedures. Define, plan, develop, lead, review, and audit strategic activities for continuous improvement initiatives across all major value streams, production lines, and business support areas.
  • Lead by example. Work side by side with the employees as CI initiatives are implemented. Lead, train, and coach all employees and leaders to grow their knowledge and capabilities. Mentor them to be true agents of change, improving their change management capabilities (tools and behaviors), and ensure rigor around conducting rapid improvement events. Be the leader of embedding a positive, CI mindset into our culture.
  • Drive the Eppendorf STep culture, philosophy, and tools including, but not limited to visual controls, process standardization, leader standard work, Gemba walks, manning strategy, daily accountability, process checks, Six Sigma, one-piece flow, pull systems, zero defects, kanban, and TPS. Applies best practices, tools, and practical applications at the appropriate times.
  • Lead or facilitate structured Problem-Solving events including Kaizens as well as simple to complex formal root cause problem solving.
  • Maintain a cost-out accountability for the site in alignment with the sites and corporate's annual cost saving objectives. Drive improvements to critical key performance indicators including but not limited to OTD/OTIF, employee efficiency and effectivity, gross margin, and days inventory outstanding.
  • Investigating shortfalls, issues, and complaints in current business processes.
  • Monitoring staff performance and organizational processes. Provides strategic leadership to production personnel and assures that facility improvement initiatives support corporate strategy and goals.
  • Communicate regularly, advise, and provide strategic planning to the local executive team regarding all plant, cost, and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborating with other stakeholders, locally and globally to share new ideas and best practices. Will participate with the Global STep board with updates and presentations for best practice sharing opportunities.
  • Manage employees without direct authority.
  • Training, mentoring, and guiding team members in new processes and idea generation. Facilitates training and development in lean manufacturing techniques, working directly with site to assess, prioritize, and implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Staying up to date with developments in management and process optimization through global collaboration and outside training opportunities. May seek outside certifications in different Lean Six Sigma principles if the knowledge will provide new best practice opportunities to our STep.
  • Develops and tracks metrics related to improvement activities; and promotes standard processes, improved flow, waste elimination, and supports management for daily improvement activities.
  • Provide full financial analysis and capital expenditure justification as necessary, and accurately project and track savings.

Your expertise

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, process management, operations, engineering, or a similar field. In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to the candidate that has at least 8 - 10 years of proven progressive CI experience working and leading in a medium to large manufacturing facility.
  • An MBA or graduate degree is desired
  • Eight years' experience in process optimization, operations, engineering, or business management.
  • A genuine belief in Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence. Lead by example to be a positive force in driving a CI mindset throughout the organization. A person that people want to listen to and follow.
  • A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organizational structures.
  • A strategic and analytical mindset.
  • An exceptional communicator that can capture the attention and drive of all employees and personality types, at all levels of the organization.
  • Constantly seeks, studies, and understands the best practice opportunities both in and outside of Eppendorf.
  • Exquisite problem-solving capabilities. Fully understands when to use the right tools for the problem being addressed.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to lead organizational change.
  • Strong working knowledge in Toyota Production Systems and Lean Six Sigma Tools. A certification in these systems strongly preferred.
