Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Assistant for NJMS- Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM). This position functions to support the Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM) in meeting the health care needs of adolescents & young adults, as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health care providers.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Registers patients for their appointment as well as calls to schedule follow up appointments with their provider.
  • Handles aspects of office operations including ordering and inventory control.
  • Performs a variety of administrative and general office services to support the operations of the Division.
  • Assists People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in identifying and addressing barriers to the initiation of, participation in and adherence to on-going HIV outpatient/ambulatory medical care.
  • Ensures that persons testing HIV-positive receive necessary HIV-related services as early as possible in order to interrupt or delay progression of HIV disease.
  • Works closely with case managers to meet clients' health care needs.
  • Serves as the Health Worker to re-engage and retain those struggling with VLS and/or become lost to care.
  • Provides outreach to those lost to care, via telephone or home visits and identify people with unknown HIV disease and those who know their status but are not linked to care, engaging, and linking PLWHA to essential services

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare/social sciences field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in working with the high risk adolescent & young adult populations preferred (HIV/AIDS); of which, some experience must be in case management.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in computer skills and use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel is required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able/willing to drive SUV.
  • Must have completed or be eligible to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Tra
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in data collection/entry and analysis (C.H.A.M.P and CareWare) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Rutgers systems (e.g. Marketplace) is preferred.
