How You'll Perform the Role

Position Summary:

The 2nd Shift Automation Technician will work with injection molding personnel to troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain, and update Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Systems to maintain continues and optimum output of injection molding machinery and associated packaging machinery.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Working 2nd Shift hours
  • Create and maintain detailed records of issue resolution, loggings events during the repair workflow, and accounting of parts consumed
  • Interface with external partners to resolve issues and ensure customer success
  • Completing preventative maintenance routines, documentation and procedures
  • Evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, reprogramming or calibrating to achieve maximum quantity and quality
  • Modify computer-controlled robot movements. Document robotics test procedures and results
  • Maintain service records of robotic equipment or automated production systems
  • Preform preventative or corrective maintenance on robotic systems and automated material handling systems or components
  • Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers' electronics, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems
  • Work with injection molding supervisor or manager, process engineering, and mold technicians in order to identify problems in the processing of product
  • Develop and implement corrective actions
  • Work with process improvement/tooling manager in the development of new product processing parameters
  • Work with the tooling department supervisor, machinists and mechanics as necessary in the development of processing techniques as it relates to tooling
  • Assist action teams and increase awareness of continuous improvement methodology to the technical staff

What We Need From You

Candidate Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in automated systems and controls
  • Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in Robotics, Mechanic or Electrical fields preferred
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced computer skills required
  • A methodical approach to resolving problems and able to exercise sound judgement under tight deadlines
  • Must have a good working knowledge to include, but not limited to, the troubleshooting and repair of VFDs, Motors/Wiring configurations. Must have working knowledge of the following: proper use of hand/power tools and electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic equipment, shop math, fasteners, measurements and parts nomenclature
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends with short notice
  • Typical office/manufacturing environment with heat/cold and machinery with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
  • Working knowledge of LOTO, and ARC Flash
  • Have general tools and diagnostic equipment
