Job Summary:

The Marist Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is a New York State, grant-funded dropout prevention and college access program that has been sponsored by Marist College since 1990. Marist LPP serves Poughkeepsie City School District youth in grades 5-12. The role of the High School Coordinator is to plan, implement, and supervise the program, for grades 9-12, which includes developing and implementing activities and workshops that meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. The High School Coordinator is responsible for implementing and updating personalized goal plans for students as well as collaborating with community organizations to provide optimal resources for students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or Psychology
  • 1-3 years experience

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a caseload of 150 9th-12th grade high school students enrolled in the Liberty Partnerships Program. Provide individualized guidance to help students create academic plans, navigate career choices, and address personal challenges.
  • Develop and implement programs and workshops to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students.
  • Supervise Marist College student mentors and interns, including developing and implementing professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community organizations to provide optimal resources for students aimed at improving the student's academic, mental, and social health and well-being.
  • Coordinate student recruitment and retention efforts for the program, including promoting the program, collecting and reviewing applications, and helping select students for the program.
  • Assist in planning and implementing LPP activities and initiatives including supervising field trips, summer programs, and family/community events.
  • Collect and compile confidential data for state reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or Psychology

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist College.
  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity - Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

The Marist College Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) provides comprehensive services to meet the academic, social, emotional, and career needs of at-risk students.
