The Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) works in collaboration with the following schools to recruit and yield new graduate and undergraduate students to the university:

  • Rutgers Business School-Newark (RBS-Nwk)

Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, a city of promise is seeking an Assistant Admission Director. Reporting to the Assistant Chancellor of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director, Graduate and International Admissions is a member of the admissions leadership team and serves as a critical advisor to the Assistant Chancellor on all strategic and operational matters for graduate and international students. The Assistant Director position oversees all aspects of the graduate and international student admissions life cycle.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Works in collaboration with the Deans, Associate Deans, and Program Directors in the graduate programs to brainstorm, develop, and implement innovative recruitment and yield strategies for graduate students
  • Oversees the review process of international applications and works closely with the Office of International Student Services to closely manage the I-20 process allowing international students to get the appropriate visa to study at the university
  • Attends all admissions leadership meetings, providing input and suggestions for not only graduate and international students, but in support of the enrollment of all aspects of the incoming undergraduate and graduate classes

This role has significant visibility and accountability to the campus and the public and requires public presentations about general and specific admissions policies and decisions. In addition, this position works closely with Admissions leadership and collaborates with other key university departments (OISS, Deans, Financial Aid, Student Affairs), as necessary.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, plus a minimum of five years of relevant admissions experience that demonstrates expertise in admission counseling.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires computer literacy in industry-standard software.
  • Requires managerial and or supervisory experience
  • Also requires excellent communication skills; and strong skills in planning, leading, and organizing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree preferred.
Equipment Utilized
  • Knowledge of Geo-market research and enrollment planning tools as well as multiple computer software and website applications are critical.
  • Microsoft Office platform - WORD (for standard word processing,) PowerPoint (for presentations,) Access (for data management,) Excel (for report production,) and Publisher
  • Knowledge of the Admissions systems including, but not limited to Salesforce, Perceptive Content, Marketing Cloud, Fonteva, and the Enrollment System.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry large quantities of recruitment and event materials/props.
  • Ability to be available and responsive during occasional nights or weekends, especially during peak seasons.
