The EMT Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director and is responsible for ensuring content consistency of all EMT basic and refresher programs. This involves overseeing the activities of the Lead Instructor, Instructor, and Instructor Aide. The Coordinator will work with the Program Director or subject matter expert on the course design, monitoring, and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a EMT Program Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Oversees the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational program offerings.
2. Supervises the preparation and instruction at the EMS Training Center or off-site, as needed.
3. Supervises the development of the activities of course participants during instructional time.
4. Evaluates learner performance, provide feedback, and develop learner remediation plans.
5. Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements, including calculating and submitting grades, maintaining program, course, and student/participant records, and preparing and submitting data and accurate reports.
6. Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
7. Adheres to established University and departmental policies and procedures and relevant quality and safety standards.
8. Adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends.
9. Spearheads activities that promote the EMS Training Center, including student recruiting and program marketing events, as appropriate.
10. May supervise the Instructors, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
12. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. At least two years of EMS experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
3. Successful completion of an approved EMS instructor course and teaching internship or equivalent.
4. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
5. Knowledge of the delivery of emergency medical services in the State of New Jersey; adult learning theory and methodologies; EMS educational program accreditation processes and standards; State of New Jersey Office of EMS rules and regulations.
6. Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
7. Knowledge of competency-based education principles and methods.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician-Instructor for three years.
2. Affiliated with an Hackensack Meridian EMT training program for at least 24 months.
3. Understanding NJ Department of Health administrative rules for NJ EMT programs, N.J.A.C. 8-40A.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. New Jersey EMT Instructor.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Basic Certification.
