ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director, Commercial Strategy position is a key member of the Sales Leadership Team at Beiersdorf. This role is responsible for the resource allocation and co-development of effective trade goals and strategies, segment and customer plans and will translate these goals and strategies into specific programs that will ensure their achievement of the annual volume and profit plan.

This role reports to the VP Commercial Sales and Strategy and has a hybrid working model and is expected to work in our Stamford, CT office 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, develop and inspire a high performing Shopper & Customer Marketing function (to include 20+ employees in Sales Strategy, Category Management, Category Advisor, and Shopper Marketing) and invest in the professional development of individual team members by creating and supporting learning opportunities as well as leveraging external resources to nurture growth.
  • Provide coaching and strategic business direction to the team, including annual performance reviews and consistent development conversations with 4 direct reports. This will lead to a motivated and upskilled Commercial Strategy team that is empowered to meet well-defined goals, engaging in effective processes and practices that are intended to optimize performance.
  • Partner with business leads in Field Sales and Marketing to ensure consistency and alignment between internal Brand/Sales and retail Go-To-Market strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive internal and external partnerships to enable key stakeholders to problem solve together and generate win-win outcomes.
  • Lead Annual Business Planning process across the Commercial organization.
  • Accountable for strategy development and deployment of resources (Long, Medium, Short term)
  • Provide input and leadership to the annual planning process through the development of the annual shopper and customer marketing review and co-development of the Sales strategy for the division. Ensure timely execution and management of the process.
  • HQ voice of the customer providing Sales and retailer feedback, perspective, and analysis.
  • Owner of channel strategies and channel conflict resolution.
  • Build and coordinate the short- and long-term trade strategy taking into consideration the brand, category, and retailer viewpoints. Deploy, steer and manage resources to deliver targets.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA required, MBA or Master's degree preferred. Experience in CPG industry. Consumer healthcare experience a plus.
  • Experience in and proven track record of thriving in fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
  • 10+ years of Trade Marketing, Sales Strategy, or similar discipline experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Field Sales or similar discipline, selling to at least two channels.
  • Shopper Marketing and Category Management experience preferred.
  • Leadership experiences with proven track record of developing high performing teams.
  • Project management experience with high visibility to leadership and proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Proven experience in developing strong relationships across functions and ability to influence key decision makers.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to influence and secure cross-functional support at all levels in the organization.
