Position Summary

The Media Supervisor is responsible for the negotiation and placement of media (with a focus on video, digital, audio as applicable) for existing clients. As a supervisor, you are responsible for negotiations and account maintenance. The supervisor will be part of a team assigned to specific clients and help manage the account from the start of negotiations to the final campaign wrap up and help manage a team of buyers assigned to the accounts.

The successful candidate must also be a creative thinker, incorporating the latest media trends and innovations, could include any or all of the following; linear, online video, audio, digital direct. Candidate should exhibit a can-do attitude to tackle all assignments, exhibit the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, and be a creative problem solver that participates and takes interest in the agency, the industry, and the success of our clients. The Supervisor will learn to deal effectively with clients and work closely with our planning group in managing budgets, developing strategies, negotiating media buys, and executing customized enhancements. It is imperative that this candidate follows technology and creative work to stay on top of pertinent information and trends.

Portfolio and Growth

  • Support new business inputs, as requested.
  • Partner with Business Leadership (Media Planning) to ensure awareness of and utilization of MAGNA partnerships to support achievement of revenue stream goals.
  • Partner with MAGNA to lead strategic marketplace strategy, cost projections and identify key partners.

Position

  • Provide POVs internally and educate junior team on video and audio media tools and landscape.
  • Research and report on trends, innovations, and changes that affect media buying.
  • Present trends, opportunities and recommendations to partner teams and clients, in person and virtually.

Product & Work

  • Manage and update client status documents on an ongoing basis; active leader on status calls with clients.
  • Stay curious and knowledgeable about client business and opportunities in the marketplace to help achieve client goals.
  • Work closely with Senior Media Buyer and Associate Media Director to craft POVs on an ongoing basis for clients.
  • Key point of contact/manager for all Assistant, Buyer, Senior Buyers on account, ensuring proper delegation and workflow for team on all projects.
  • Ability to mentor, train and supervise the younger members of the team.
  • Manage all aspects of the national buying process, including the development of branded content, detailed audience tracking, strategic negotiations, and tactical scheduling.
  • Ability to lead team in developing buys that are strategic, deliver on client objectives and meet goals.
  • Work closely with Business Leadership and other disciplines (Insights & Action, Analytics, etc.) in developing strategies, measurement frameworks, etc.
  • Lead team in planning cost creation for Upfront and/or Scatter.
  • Understands how to determine best KPI for client objectives and main metrics to evaluate for best KPI return. Can successfully pull in past or projected campaign metrics to support media recommendation.
  • Forms strong relationships with media vendors.
  • Supports and delivers on MAGNA agency-wide media partnerships targets in a way that benefits client in a cost effective way.
  • Supervisor is seen by client as key liaison for marketplace intelligence, negotiation and partnership needs.
  • Ability to successfully manage team's response to client requests and help guide and steward process and plan changes.
  • Successful stewardship of all work done by Assistants, Buyers, and Sr Buyers.
  • Participates in agency and external personal growth & education initiatives.
  • Seen by internal stakeholders as first level of "management" for the team.
  • Adherence to / use of agency processes and tools.
  • Positive collaboration partner to MB SBU's.
  • Ensures and advocates for agency partner relationships.
  • Seeks ways to deliver best in class pricing through strategic negotiations.

People and Culture

  • Participates in agency and external personal growth & education initiatives.
  • Actively participate in agency DEI trainings and event
  • Mentor, train and supervise the younger members of the team.
  • Ensure proper delegation and workflow for team on all projects.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of agency experience required.
  • Solid experience in developing, negotiating and executing National TV, Video and Digital Streaming campaigns.
  • The ideal candidate will also have some experience dealing with other outside agencies or have the desire to oversee partner agencies.
  • Creative right brain thinker with a keen business sense.
  • Passionate about advertising and the ability to spread that passion to others.
  • Solid experience in developing executing multifaceted video or audio campaigns
  • Personal Computer proficiency; MS Office preferred including MS Outlook.
  • Solid math and computer skills required, along with excellent writing skills.
  • Experience with media buying and media research software.
  • Some management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator.
  • Ability to present to an audience.
  • Experience with campaign management/ad serving technologies.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in business administration/marketing is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.
  • Ability to present to an audience (in person or virtually).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment in the media industry.
  • Ability to meet last-minute deadlines
