The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, and contributes to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for imagining, developing and incubating new solutions until they are brought to market, particularly when it comes to offers with a high technological content (including digital and IT). IDD gathers more than 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities at 60 sites.

The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth. To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.

Our Operations Group in Newport is searching for a Chemical Operator to operate production and testing equipment. This Chemical Operator will be working within our Manufacturing Group on a 12-hour shift. The Operator will report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor. Military veterans are welcomed!

Responsibilities:

  • Operate automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in accordance w/ operating procedures, including programmable, logic control devices
  • Follow specifications, job orders, work instructions, recipes and procedures to produce specific products according to our ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system
  • Perform complex liquid / chemical batch manufacturing, maintaining a familiarity with a variety of production machines
  • Ability to work in C1D1 and C1D2 Explosion Proof environments, particularly within the context of hazardous material handling and solvent extraction
  • Monitor and control process variables, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates
  • Route product samples for quality control inspection according to procedure
  • Complete preventive maintenance on a regular, timely basis. Handle first-line troubleshooting such as equipment malfunctions, computer program issues, setting adjustments; involving appropriate other experts as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma - G.E.D. or 10 years directly related manufacturing experience
  • 1+ years of Industrial Manufacturing experience
  • Proven experience with C1D1 and C1D2 Explosion Proof environments, particularly within the context of hazardous material handling and solvent extraction
  • Good written skills, proficient computer skills, and ability to work with MS Office tools
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects
  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break)
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and handle occasional overtime as needed
  • Good judgment, attention to detail, and manual dexterity
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Deep understanding of chemical processes and equipment
  • Solid communication, interpersonal, organizational, numerical, and analytical skills are required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Capability to prioritize time efficiently

The hourly rate for this position in "DE" is $25.75.
