Working as a Product Manager, you will be a key member of the marketing and sales team in Electrification, Smart Power, defining marketing plans, including marketing communication, training and sales initiatives. As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the NEMA/UL Controls Product Line, including both open component and enclosed products.

Your responsibilities

  • Understand and define market segmentation and product positioning. Analyze and track market, technology, competitor and customer requirements and trends to determine competitive attributes and differentiated value propositions
  • Contribute to business strategy definition, translate that business strategy and market requirements into competitive portfolio requirements; Identify gaps, needs, opportunities, and risks in existing portfolio and strategies to address (feature enhancements, cost reductions, etc.)
  • Define new product plans; Prioritize new product development projects to achieve targets; sets technical, price, cost and expenditure targets
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the product offering to the vital few products required to address growth and profitability targets; Organize and lead product exits to ensure planned and orderly obsolescence of end-of-life products and transition to alternatives in line with life cycle management (LCM) process
  • Interface between customer and customer facing and internal functions (Sales, Operations, and Research & Development), forecast volume trends on a regular basis to ensure Operations' capability for customer fulfillment. Set targets and monitor product/system costs to provide inputs to Operations' functions (Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability
  • Partner with Product Marketing to initiate and drive communication strategy, including product launches and promotional activities. Provide subject matter expertise to Product Owner, Product Marketing / Marketing & Sales
  • Ensure achievement of established targets through definition and oversight of improvement actions as needed. Focus on market share, achievement of revenues, margin and project on-time and on-cost targets
Your background

  • 4-year Degree in Business, Engineering, or related with minimum 5 years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, or related field
  • Proven experience in Product Management or Product Marketing preferred
  • Knowledge of NEMA products and systems, experience with Controls / NEMA Controls, and the commercial/construction/distribution channel
  • Knowledge / experience with Empower and/or product configurators
  • Strong leadership / influencing skills must
  • Strong communication skills & ability to lead and influence without direct authority
  • Strategic thinking, able to analyze and manage complex business situations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Assertiveness and ability to work in a virtual team
  • Availability for occasional domestic and international travel
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
