Overview

Kaman Air Vehicles is searching for an experienced Aircraft Final Sheet Metal Assembler to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. The individual in this role will work under the direction of the Senior Production Manager with minimum supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Disassembly and assembly of a wide variety of sheet metal components and assemblies on the final assembly line, including knowledge of rivet patterns and installation of a wide variety of aerospace fasteners.
  • Ability to efficiently use a variety of tools and instruments common to the craft.
  • Maintain familiarity with company/customer prints, specifications, etc.
  • Must maintain high quality of work to ensure overall integrity of aircraft.
  • Provide assistance to Group Leader as required. Maintain all necessary records and sign-off logs for completed work.
  • Assists with the training of new or lower classification employees.
  • Diagnose and report troubled areas; report defective material, supplies or any other unusual condition or circumstance to supervision. Make recommendations for improvements in quality and /or quantity.

Individual Competencies

  • 1st piece part layout from drawings and mylars, with or without the use of work aids.
  • Net trimming of parts and assemblies to mating parts of Airframe.
  • Ability to select, size and install a wide variety of structural fasteners allowed within specification and drawing allowances.
  • Knowledge and ability to identify and perform standard repairs to aircraft structure as allowed by specifications.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience required.
