Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Principal Investigator with advanced management skills who can address the technical requirements of all cultural resource investigations, including linear and area projects pertaining to the oil & gas, solar, land development industries, etc. This person will be asked to manage projects and the staff tasked with working on them from start to finish under the ultimate direction of the Natural Resources Geographical Discipline Leader. CED offers a unique opportunity to join a rapidly expanding service line with offices and projects nationwide. Regional specialties are a plus.

This position is based in Texas with the option of office-based work in Houston, TX; or work remote from any mutually acceptable location. Preference given to candidates who live in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.


Responsibilities

  • Exhibit increased experience and/or mastery over the same skillset as field director.
  • Manage tasks and schedules of P.A. and field director.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding Section 106, NEPA, or any other mandatory cultural resources reviews and interpret them to determine applicable requirements.
  • Implement appropriate investigation strategy for each project based on size, type, location, and permitting or regulatory review requirements.
  • Communicate investigation strategy to field director and field staff as needed.
  • Conduct state or federal agency consultation on a project-by-project basis.
  • Review final data sets and final DRAFT reports for all projects prior to submittal to clients, both internal and external.
  • Direct any Phase II or Phase III investigations with the help of the field director and P.A. as available.
  • Manage schedule and budgets for cultural resources tasks on projects.
  • Manage the schedule and budget of any subcontractors performing work for cultural resource tasks on CED projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Archaeology.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional archaeological fieldwork experience.
  • 1 to 3 years experience as a Principal Investigator.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge of archaeological research issues, principles, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to develop scientific reports and manuscripts based on original research.
  • Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Knowledge and expertise in one or more fields of archaeological specialty.
  • Project planning skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Skilled in collecting, analyzing, verifying, and manipulating research data.
  • Skilled in using computers for writing, analysis, and report production.
  • Must be capable of walking over unfamiliar terrain, excavating shovel tests and test units, screening soil, and carrying field equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel frequently and for long periods of time, as needed.
  • Experience using GPS technology.
