Description

Travel to your New Jersey and New York locations 25% of the time is required.

Position Summary: Guidewire Developer with experience in planning, designing, configuring, developing, modifying, debugging, and evaluating complex software for technical and integration areas of the Guidewire Insurance Suite ( Policy Center, Claims Center & Billing Center).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and unit test solutions using Guidewire application tools for Cloud implementation.
  • Collaborate with IT management, project or maintenance team members and other team members to evaluate, design, and complete project activities.
  • Implement integration solutions and estimate integration effort required for user story requirements.
  • Apply GW coding standards, best practices, and design patterns to deliver solutions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities which can affect program and project deliverables with follow-through on mitigation, resolution, and action plans.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement software for adding new functionality to existing applications and investigate and resolve production issues working in Java.
  • Establish and execute traceable unit and integration tests (automated as to be agreed).
  • Support the development & successful completion of assigned user stories for each sprint.
  • Understand and apply industry practices, architectural standards and department policies and procedures relating to work assignments.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as needed.
  • 25% travel required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in configuration and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators, Guidewire Batch, Guidewire predefined plugins required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance domain required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter(preferably GW Cloud) preferredand at least one full product implementation required.
  • Minimum 2 years of expertise in Guidewire APIs, Integration Views, GX Model and Product Models required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Java development experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with tools like Jira, Git, Bitbucket etc required.
  • Knowledge of Guidewire integration concept: Batch Processing, Message Queues and Event Processing required.

Skills:

  • StrongConfiguration / Integration skills (v10.0/Cloud)
  • Desired areas of technical/functional expertise include GOSU, PCF, XML, Product Model,Activity Assignments, Forms Inference.
  • Strong understanding of the Guidewire platform (UI, Data Model, Studio etc.)
  • Solid technical background in Core Java, XML, SQL
  • Working knowledge of one or more RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Experience and knowledgeable of modern software architectures, design patterns, and development techniques.
  • Application of structured software development techniques including requirements analysis, functional decomposition, modeling, prototyping, functional design, estimating and testing.
  • Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.
  • Knowledge in at least one Software Configuration Management tool like SVN, CVS etc.
  • Working knowledge of one or more SDLC methodologies like agile.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of secure software development.
Other Requirements:
  • Familiar with Tomcat and/or WebSphere preferred.
  • Experience with third party integrations
  • Guidewire Certifications preferred.
  • Working knowledge in at least one JEE framework preferred.
  • Rating integration experience preferred.

The salary range for this role is$78,700 - $145,500. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
