This is a unique career opportunity to play a key role in the formation of a trading and origination business in a market of strategic importance to a long established, and highly respected international energy trading company that has physical and financial energy markets in its DNA.

  • Managing a credit portfolio with the main focus on energy and trading companies
  • Evaluating quantitative and qualitative data for physical coal counterparty financial and other information to set counterparty credit limits in accordance with company policy
  • Proactively managing credit risks and negotiating framework agreements (e.g. SCoTA, EFET, ISDA, CSA, CPMA, etc.), the provision of securities etc. and evaluation of transaction specific characteristics and approval of transactions, based on limit, collateral and deal structure
  • Being an internal as well as external partner for our own credit portfolio to support commercial initiatives
  • Partnering with the Front Office to understand all risks and trading strategies. Actively challenge and debate assumptions and underlying risk capture to ensure timely response to business requirements.
  • Identifying, measuring, monitoring, mitigating and reporting credit risk
  • Keeping abreast of current trends and market developments in areas of expertise
  • Your activities will require a consistent interface cross-functionally both within RWETA and globally across the wider RWE organization, with Traders, Logistics Operators with local and global Risk colleagues in Europe
  • Being based in New York City, you will be a core team member of the dynamic NYC-based team of dedicated commercial and business support experts. You'll report into the CFO of RWETA and have a functional reporting line to the Head of Credit Risk Management in Germany.

Your powerful skills

  • A solid understanding of the North American domestic and export energy markets (gas, power & CFDs), both physical and financial, as well as the fundamental factors and economics that drive the markets
  • University graduate in business studies or finance or economics
  • Profound professional experience in credit management, preferably in an international trading organisation or banking environment
  • Sound knowledge of the methods of credit risk analysis, balance sheet analysis and cash flow analysis
  • Sound analytical skills and experience in taking decisions within critical deadlines
  • Experience with special credit situations
  • Disciplined and organised approach to work with the ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to take accountability for work delegated and ensure tasks are delivered in a timely and complete fashion.
  • Analytic, conceptional and organisational skills
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and sense of responsibility
  • A high level of social competence as well as the ability to integrate and handle conflicts
  • Very good knowledge of English necessary.
