Job Description:

The Systems Administrator will research, implement and support server operating systems, and related applications for the college. The position will report to the Director of Security & Infrastructure Services within the Technology Services Department.

Essential Duties:

Administer Microsoft Windows-based. enterprise computing systems within both virtual and physical environments.

Manage day-to-day administration tasks for the College servers, both physical and virtual.

Manage day-to-day administration of Microsoft Windows systems supporting applications such as the services required for Microsoft 365 integration (ADFS, DirSync) and Microsoft SQL Server.

Manage the data center and computer systems including hardware and software.

Perform pro-active administration of existing Windows Servers with a focus on security, reliability, and scalability within a VMware virtual infrastructure.

Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

Develop, document, and improve standard practices for security, user account management, printing, file shares, and other resources.

Assist Technology Services Help Desk staff with troubleshooting complex requests.

Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems.

Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex system problems in all areas with urgency.

Serve as a resource for Help Desk staff regarding software deployment requests using endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft SCCM.

Troubleshoot reports of security related incidents.

Responsibilities occasionally require working outside regular business hours, with minimal advanced notice.

Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

Significant experience with Microsoft Windows server administration, configuration, and upgrades.

Significant experience with Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy design and configuration.

Significant experience with Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration.

Significant experience managing server virtualization technologies including VMWare Server/ESX.

Experience managing backup technologies and strategies.

Ability to work independently and with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Proven problem-solving skills in a multiple-vendor environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Commvault Metallic backup solutions.

Experience with Web services (IIS, Apache, Tomcat).

A proven record of completing projects with Active Directory, Server Migrations (P2V & V2V), provision virtual servers.

Technical project planning, change management and documentation skills.

Experience administering, configuring, and deploying Anti-Virus solutions.

Experience with one or more scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl.
