Job Description:

The coordinator will oversee the activities of the Nursing Simulation and Nursing Skills laboratories and will be responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of high-fidelity simulation activities in the Nursing program and the corresponding training and support of the Nursing faculty. The coordinator will be responsible for all lab operations, including: overseeing the maintenance and repair of simulation equipment; ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and learning resources; preparing the lab for simulation activities and skills demonstration and practice; assisting with skills remediation for students; and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards of safety rules and regulations.

Essential Duties:

Plan, design, and deliver high-fidelity simulation activities aligned with the learning outcomes of the Nursing program.

Utilize research and literature findings to identify and integrate best practices in healthcare simulation education.

Collaborate with the Dean of Health Sciences to establish, review, and research policies, standard practices, and procedures related to the simulation and skills labs with a focus on continuous quality improvement.

Provide simulation training and technology support for Nursing faculty and orient new faculty and staff to the lab equipment, policies, and procedures.

Assist Nursing faculty with the incorporation of simulation activities into the Nursing courses.

Collaborate with the Nursing Program Coordinator and faculty to coordinate the complementary blending of lab practice, simulation, virtual simulation, and clinical experience.

Assist students and faculty in meeting course objectives through the use of skills and simulation lab activities.

Coordinate and assist with scheduling the use of the simulation and skills labs for all functions, including scheduled labs, clinical skills evaluation, open lab periods, and simulation activities.

Prepare the Nursing Skills lab for scheduled skills demonstrations, practice, and testing.

Supervise open lab hours and assist with the remediation of high-risk students as identified by faculty; maintain records of student attendance and skills performance as needed.

Maintain clean, fully equipped Nursing Simulation and Nursing Skills labs; oversee the maintenance and repair of lab and simulation equipment.

Order and maintain an inventory of all lab supplies and equipment; recommend purchases of lab equipment and supplies; assist with the preparation of an annual operating budget.

Provide administrative support to the Coordinator of Nursing Admissions and Clinical Placements as needed.

Provide facilities tours for stakeholders and assist with special events related to the Nursing program.

Primary work schedule Monday - Friday 8:30-5:00pm with evenings and Saturdays as needed.

Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

BSN from a regionally-accredited institution and current RN license in the state of New Jersey.

Minimum of two years of experience in clinical nursing practice or in an acute care setting.

Recent experience working in a Nursing Simulation or Skills lab.

Proficient in simulation education utilizing high-fidelity manikins and virtual computer-based scenarios.

Proficient in using standard office computer software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education.

Wiling to pursue CHSE certification.

Community college teaching experience.
