Job Description:

Reporting to the Provost, this position provides strategic leadership, oversight, and management for the College's on-going assessment, institutional research, use of data, and institutional effectiveness. The Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness and Planning will work directly and collaboratively with the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, Department Chairs, faculty and staff to maximize institutional effectiveness. The Executive Director will serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO).

Essential Duties:

  1. Coordinate, organize, prioritize and evaluate college-wide assessment activities for institutional assessment and assessment of student learning:
    1. Collaborate and provide consultation for faculty, staff and administrators to design, implement and document appropriate and effective assessment plans and activities;
    2. Prepare and distribute analytical reports;
    3. Assist with design of direct and indirect assessment projects, tools, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data;
    4. Maintain college-wide repository and reporting on assessment efforts.
  2. Support, manage, and evaluate the College's institutional effectiveness initiatives:
    1. Collaborate with Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Department Chairs on their strategic and assessment plans;
    2. Assist with coordinating assessments, budgeting, planning and resource allocation college-wide;
    3. Design, develop, and manage the college's Institutional Effectiveness Plan that aligns with institutional priorities;
    4. Provide orientation and support to programs and service areas in understanding and completing the program review/audit process.
  3. Coordinate a systematic and integrated institutional planning process aligned with accreditation, the College's strategic plan, and other planning requirements:
    1. Serve as the College's ALO (Accreditation Liaison Officer) for MSCHE;
    2. Collaborate on matters relating to accreditation; prepare and maintain accreditation documentation;
    3. Assist with the coordination, development, review, and revision of the College's strategic plan and master plans;
    4. Participate in the development and implementation of a systematic planning process;
    5. Develop reports and literature searches that inform and facilitate planning; gather data and complete analyses to support the planning process;
    6. Develop a tracking and reporting system for monitoring progress toward goals and objectives in plans;
    7. Provide the college community with periodic reports on the planning process.
  4. Oversee and support institutional research activities:
    1. Set the College's research agenda;
    2. Conceptualize, design and conduct research projects relating to fulfilling the mission, goals and objectives of the college and to assess institutional progress;
    3. Oversee environmental scanning and market analyses;
    4. Serve on and support the College's Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  5. Support data usage, data analysis, and trend monitoring:
    1. Work collaboratively with Institutional Research, Registrar/Records, and Enrollment teams to address the data needs of the college;
    2. Support and assist Institutional Research in the coordination, collection, analysis, and reporting of data;
    3. Develop and coordinate the college's survey calendar and direct efforts of staff in coordination of surveys and questionnaires;
    4. Assist with data interpretation;
    5. Collaborate on the development and enforcement of policies to support data integrity.
  6. Provide training and support for assessment, planning, research, and effectiveness activities:
    1. Organize and chair meetings;
    2. Lead workshops and facilitate group discussions;
    3. Involve faculty, staff, and administration in idea generation, goal setting, and decision making; support the Academic Assessment Committee and other college assessment committees as appropriate.
  7. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Master's Degree in social science, social or educational research, higher education, or related field that includes data analysis, data interpretation, and/or research methodology.

Five years' progressively responsible management experience in higher education.

Three years' supervisory experience.

Experience with regional and programmatic accreditation.

Knowledge of current concepts and techniques in institutional assessment and assessment of student learning, planning, and research methods in a higher education environment.

Professional work experience demonstrating ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and to work in a collaborative manner with faculty, administration, and staff.

Demonstrated strategic and operational planning skills.

Effective verbal/written communication, presentation, and data visualization skills.

Strong and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in educational research, higher education, or related field that includes data analysis, data interpretation, and/or research methodology.

Experience working in a community college; comprehensive knowledge of community college administration.

Management experience in an educational institution that is a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

Experience working with and/or within an office of Institutional Research.

Experience with Ellucian Banner.
