Farrar, Straus and Giroux is seeking a passionate, creative Publicity Manager to work on PR campaigns and strategic planning for our titles. Reporting to the Associate Director of Publicity, this individual will be responsible for planning and executing multiple publicity campaigns each season across a range of genres, including literary fiction, commercial fiction, creative nonfiction, current affairs, history, and more. The Publicity Manager will also work with junior department staff, both as a general resource, and as a collaborative partner on select complex campaigns. What you'll do:

  • Implement comprehensive publicity campaigns for a diverse selection of frontlist titles each season
  • Pitch and coordinate coverage with top national and local media organizations, including reviews and interviews across print, radio, television, podcasts, and online outlets
  • Write press materials, including compelling press releases and creative pitches
    Organize in-person and virtual author appearances and tours, including coordination of book signings, management of detailed itineraries, and arrangement of travel
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with contacts at media outlets, bookstores, and other industry organizations
  • Collaborate closely with the other members of the publicity and marketing departments, as well as with authors, agents, editors, and the sales team
  • Partner with department colleagues on select projects and mentor junior department staff
  • Collaborate and assist on virtual programs for the media, booksellers, and librarians as appropriate throughout the season.

  • Expertise in planning and managing publicity campaigns for high profile titles
  • Exceptional organizational skills, as well as oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge of broadcast, print, and online media
  • Affinity for mentoring and working with junior department staff
  • Strong work ethic and critical thinking skills

Ideal Experience:

  • 5+ years of publicity experience with a well-rounded knowledge of trade book publishing and the media landscape

This role will have an annual salary of $74,000 - $79,000.
