POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Food Service is responsible for managing and coordinating Gateway's Food Service department. The Manager develops new business, supervises Food Service staff, and meets all departmental goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Operations

  • Manage the operations of the Senior Mobile Meals Program and contractual operations.
  • Responsible for oversite of day to day operations of the Senior Mobile Meals program, ensuring adequate staff coverage. Oversite includes: daily meal preparation and production, product and supply inventory, daily meal packing, menu planning, delivery driver schedules, Community Cafe operations, and quarterly staff trainings.
  • Provide inventory control and maintain accurate and timely records
  • Order food products and supplies, process Purchase Orders.
  • Monitor and supervise system to plan and order raw materials and supplies based upon current menu, ensuring adequate supply to meet obligations.
  • Ensure departmental budgetary goals are met.
  • Schedule monthly route meal temperature checks to ensure meals are holding within guidelines. Notify VP if any route temp check falls below the guidelines and make packing adjustments to correct. Retemp route. Submit monthly route temp sheets to VP for forwarding to OFA.
  • Ensure the food service area consistently meets Department of Health and NYSOFA standards.
  • Ensure all inspections are completed timely, periodic maintenance is performed on all food services equipment, and internal kitchen documentation is kept up to date.
  • With the VP, develop and implement new food service business opportunities. Identify what resources will be needed inclusive of labor, space, and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, and supervise food service staff
  • Participate in agency's management as a member of the management team
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Business, Culinary or related plus three (3) years related experience
  • High School Diploma plus five (5) years related experience

Experience:

  • Working experience in Food Service, Dietary Planning, Restaurant Management, or related

Licenses / Certifications:

  • First Aid & CPR certified
  • ServSafe Certified or willing to take course

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and bend
  • Must be able to sit or stand for 8 hours per day

REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License and maintain a driving record which meets the insurable criteria of the Agency's automobile insurance carrier
    • Driver's License Abstract
  • Must have a favorable result from all state, federal, and agency mandated background checks
