Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Coordinator.

The Section for Health Equity at NYU Langone Health's Department of Population Health is looking to hire a full time Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will work primarily on initiatives that will utilize community-partnered participatory research approaches and best practice strategies to engage community-based organizations, multisector agency, and diverse community populations in New York City. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting community outreach, engagement and recruitment activities, language access-related activities, conducting data collection, management and IRB protocols, engaging with community, multisector and academic partners, and supporting Section work. Reports to a Manager or Director; works under general supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of our research studies, study rationale, and processes with a focus on the social determinants of health, community-engaged participatory research, and health equity and health disparities with a focus on cancer.
    2. Research Activities - Researches/gathers and collects data from different parties and presents findings and preliminary analysis as applicable. Manages databases and becomes 'resident expert' for secondary analysis of existing national and local datasets. Assists with the development of instruments and databases to support primary data collection. Conducts and reviews translations of materials and products as appropriate. Researches problems, issues and concerns and responds to requests for information. Develops materials, products and presentations to conduct and advance the science of community and multisector partner engagement in research. Assists in developing and delivering training, technical assistance and educational sessions and workshops tailored to diverse audiences, including patient, community and research audiences. Submits and maintains institutional review board approval and other required protocols as per Medical Center policies and procedures and assists in development of dissemination products including peer reviewed manuscripts.
    3. Reports - Prepares and review documents independently and generates status/progress reports for ongoing and pending Project/Program/Programs per funder guidelines. Plans, arranges, outlines and drafts letters, memos, agendas presentations and reports. Reviews, edits and obtains appropriate approvals. Responds to more complex correspondence and refers the more complex issues with recommendation to supervisor. Follows protocols as defined by granting organizations and Medical Center's policies and procedures.
    4. Grants - Assists in grants related activities such as developing grants applications/proposals and fund-raising activities if applicable. Collects and organizes required paperwork for submission if required for the grant. Follows up and coordinates resolution of all issues.
    5. Program Coordination - Provides basic to moderate coordination for Program activities to a manager/director of department that includes but not limited to: coordination of Programs while working/communicating with internal and external parties to organize and coordinate the various components needed to initiate, run and conclude Program activities. May participate in evaluation and creation of recommendations based on analyses, observation and or feedback. Develops Program schedules and tracking, coordinates and facilitates community coalitions, advisory boards, and other facilitated opportunities for community engagement. May oversee Program purchase requisitions and invoice payments. Assists in developing departmental plans, goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
    6. Program Support - Apply community-centered and engagement activities to inform research, programs and initiatives. Integrate community-led and culturally tailored and adapted approaches to make programs, strategies, and interventions meaningful and relevant and applying a language access lens. Assists in translation and cultural tailoring of health education and study materials and methods to assure that they are appropriate and actionable for our communities of focus. This will include providing technical assistance and feedback on recruitment methods for research as well as relationship generation and maintenance with relevant community partners.
    7. Participates in special programs and performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to Project/Program manage and to multi task while paying attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Masters degree in public health or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience
2. Two years of experience program coordinating or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Strong experience in program management
4. Flexibility and innovation with formulating solutions in an applied setting
5. Experience with community-based research and working in community settings
6. High level of curiosity and commitment to health disparities and equity research
7. Language fluency in Spanish

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $70,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
