Special Education Teacher

May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Western MA has an opening at our West Springfield campus for Special Education Teacher to work in a classroom setting providing educational services to children and adolescents with autism or other developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver student individualized and group instruction and other educational objectives
  • Train staff on implementing student programming
  • Help design individualized curriculum and write IEPs
  • Collect and evaluate data
  • Write and review student progress reports
  • Implement comprehensive behavior support plans
  • Provide case management and home consultation
  • Deliver individualized and group instruction and other educational objectives
  • Prepare and complete MCAS and MCAS Alternative portfolio
  • Manage behavioral crisis
  • Provide transportation of students within the community as needed

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred; bachelor's degree required
  • Massachusetts certification in moderate or severe special education preferred; Applicants currently enrolled in a teacher special education licensure program working towards moderate or severe special education licensure will be considered
  • Experience in ABA and working with students with Autism and other developmental disabilities required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Availability to work year-round Monday through Friday
  • Valid Driver's License
