Job Description

The GLG team seeks an Associate General Counsel to join the Legal Department in the New York headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile attorney with a litigation background to become deeply embedded in a global growing company's operations.

This candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate the ability to leverage a litigation background to research and tap external expertise to advise the business on a variety of matters. The role will have many touchpoints with the business and issue spotting in addition to reactive problem solving will be imperative.

The candidate will be able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in an organized, efficient, and proactive manner. The candidate must demonstrate confidence in advising senior management members and stakeholders along with showcasing impeccable trustworthiness. This position requires high-level collaboration and team management skills, engaging both internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will be expected to use external counsel as appropriate to inform the advice to be given. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing ongoing advice to the human resources department on employee relations matters and human resources compliance
  • Advising the business on U.S. and international privacy matters.
  • Monitor and interpret court decisions and newly enacted laws, rules and regulations relevant to the company
  • Manage responses to any subpoenas and discovery requests
  • Work with contracting attorneys on key provisions to client and vendor agreements
  • Handle escalations that arise from client and vendor diligence inquiries
  • Handle challenging legal matters from clients, experts and vendors
  • Provide legal advice and support to multiple business segments, including Product development, Accounting, Finance, Business Development and Client Services

Candidate Profile

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Law degree (LL.B. or higher) from a top law university, with demonstrated excellent academic performance
  • 5+ years' of litigation experience required; clerk and employment law experience are pluses but not required
  • Must be fluent in MS office and comfortable with new technology.
  • Exceptional written and oral English communication skills

Working Environment: Flexible / Hybrid working arrangements typically requiring 2 days per week in office.

Compensation: GLG is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. Certain roles may also be eligible for incentive compensation.

The anticipated hiring base salary range for this role is:
$220,300-$300,000 USD
