Overview

TRC is seeking a Solar Program Field Inspector to support the delivery of solar programs to commercial and industrial, multifamily, and residential customers throughout the state of New Jersey. As a Solar Program Field Inspector you will conduct site inspections and reporting for multiple solar installations. Your strong technical capabilities, including knowledge of photovoltaics, electrical systems, data acquisition systems and revenue-grade metering. You work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to provide field support and implement market transforming programs that encourage the use of clean energy.

Daily challenges from a diverse range of projects found in commercial and industrial energy systems keep your schedule interesting. Your technical expertise, communication skills, mental flexibility, and excellent customer care skills are vital to completing client objectives and goals. We rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks. This position includes significant regional travel.


Responsibilities

*THIS IS A HYBRID/FIELD POSITION THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY*

  • Coordinate, schedule and route site visits with solar customers.
  • Confirm project scopes of work with customers and confirm that scopes match project applications and records.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in addressing onsite issues.
  • Develop inspection reports that summarize on-site findings and include photographs and action items to resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with customers and contractors to resolve discrepancies identified on site.
  • Perform quality assurance inspection services and reporting of solar system installations to ensure compliance with New Jersey's Clean Energy Solar Programs' guidelines.
  • Demonstrate expertise in quality solar systems, with a strong knowledge of Photovoltaic (PV) technologies, electrical systems, data acquisition systems, revenue-grade metering and battery storage systems.
  • Successfully complete work on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with homeowners, business owners and solar developers/contractors.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to organize and coordinate topics for the Solar Technical Working Groups.
  • Research and develop inspection protocols for new and evolving solar technologies.
  • Communicate the quality assurance standards and mechanisms associated with the NJCEP Solar Programs to the solar industry.
  • Stay continually educated in solar product and technology changes.
  • Participate in trainings as provided; maintain certifications and/or licenses.
  • Significant travel on daily inspection routes.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Associates degree in an engineering/technical field, or at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing solar photovoltaic technologies, electrical systems, data acquisition systems, revenue-grade metering and battery storage systems across a broad array of installation types.
  • Four plus years of experience in solar PV installation, design and inspection services.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable means of transportation to facilitate site visits throughout the State of New Jersey.
  • NABCEP Associate or other Certification preferred.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and client-focused.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills: proficiency in MS Office and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse customers and contractors effectively and respectfully.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Salary Range

USD $75,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
