Job Description

Role Overview

This role will be responsible for the planning and execution of product processing through cleaning, disinfection, and/or sterilization cycles and cleaning validations on reusable medical devices. This may include performing standard tests, and routine laboratory tasks. The position also acts as a corresponding consulting partner with the main interacting departments regarding routine reprocessing cycles and cleaning validations.

Key Functions:

  • Performs reprocessing methods (cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization) on products to simulate use of instruments prior to testing.
  • Plans and executes reprocessing validations for reusable devices.
  • Accurately completes required documentation according to good documentation practices (GDP).
  • Operates sterilization equipment and standard laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine laboratory activities including preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment, material inventory and ordering, and general laboratory housekeeping.
  • Participates in the development and improvement of standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Delivers training to laboratory personnel on work instructions, laboratory practices, equipment use, and test methods.
  • Assists in investigation in case of deviation or to identify a root cause.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, biology, or record of experience in related field.
  • Previous experience with analytical laboratory test methods and equipment - knowledge of protein, hemoglobin and carbohydrate assay an advantage.
  • Experience with sterilization (steam, vapor hydrogen peroxide), or high level disinfection (manual and automated processes) is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and/or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain productive working relationships with co-workers (Teamwork).
  • Ability to express ideas clearly (both written and verbally) to a wide variety of personnel at various levels (Communication).
  • Eager to learn continuously and strong motivation.
