Position Overview:
Reporting to the Risk and Safety Manager, the role of Safety Officer is responsible for training staff on company safety policies and procedures, conducting safety risk assessments and ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to on job sites. A critical member of the companys health and safety team, this role promotes a culture of workplace safety and policy adherence ensuring compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations. The Safety Officer advises, trains and counsels field and office employees on safety procedures and accident reporting requirements. Focusing on root cause analysis, the Safety Officer works closely with the Risk and Safety Manager to reduce workplace injuries and implement corrective measures.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Travel to various job sites throughout the Northeast (MA, ME, CT & NY) to monitor compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits to identify hazards. Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective action.
  • Communicates safety information and/or training to employees including but not limited to Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Aerial Boom/Lift and PPE.
  • Implement project-specific safety training as needed.
  • Review pre-job setups including Job Hazard Analysis and job site inspections to ensure Federal, State, local and company safety requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety and promote safety awareness throughout the organization. Engage with employees on all levels to actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.

Position Requirements:
  • 2 + years relevant, equivalent work experience required. College coursework preferred.
  • Construction industry supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel throughout the Northeast. Travel includes MA, ME, CT and NY.
  • OSHA 30 ideal
  • Ability to effectively communicate safety protocols and requirements to all levels of employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders and visit commercial roofing jobsites.

Working Conditions:
  • Typical construction jobsites including climbing ladders, construction materials, exposure to noise and weather. Office environment with typical office machines and equipment.
  • Extensive sitting, standing, bending, standing, driving, walking are all expected activities. Ability to climb ladders and lift more than 25 lbs.
