About Ogilvy

Ogilvy was founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. David created a culture that deeply respects and cares about its people and clients. Our mission is to inspire people and brands to make an impact and we are committed to attracting, growing, and retaining the best talent in the industry.

About the Role

We are seeking a New Business Director for Ogilvy New York to help us craft and operationalize the vision for the Ogilvy of tomorrow. As the New Business Director of Ogilvy New York, you will be charged with leading new business for the New York office, building and scaling operational best practices, attracting new clients, and driving sustainable growth. You'll work alongside the executive leadership team and subject matter experts, as well as discipline leads to achieve our ambition and champion growth.

What You'll Do

  • Work with executive leadership and NA New Business lead to accelerate Ogilvy's growth and advance our reputation in the market.
  • Vet incoming pitch opportunities and provide recommendations to agency leadership on which pitches to pursue.
  • Lead and orchestrate Ogilvy New York new business pitches: developing best-in-class RFI/RFP responses, casting and guiding cross-functional teams, building strategies to win and pinpointing any barriers to overcome.
  • Oversee the development of new case studies, working closely with business leaders across the agency.
  • Support junior New Business talent - ensuring that they are growing, developing and providing value to the team by managing backgrounders, materials upkeep, etc.
  • Be accountable for accurate financial reporting to Ogilvy NA via Sugar CRM.
  • Understand changing agency landscape, identifying our competitors' points of difference (and their weaknesses) to create competitive advantage.
  • Assist finance leads with modern compensation models, scope negotiations and staffing new clients.
  • Use new business pitches as a training ground for junior talent within the agency, recruiting volunteers for pitches and special assignments.
  • Support New Biz leadership to nurture relationships with the top 10 U.S.-based pitch consultants.
  • Support leadership's long-term prospecting efforts and development of external prospecting strategies.

What You'll Need

  • 5-7 years of working experience, with at least 4 years in agency new business development in advertising, public relations, marketing communications, or related professional services industries.
  • Proven ability to guide cross-functional teams to a common vision and make new business a culture that the agency rallies around
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate an outstanding degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple growth initiatives under the pressures of tight timelines and lean resources.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, with a track record for building things (models, products, ways of working) that have never been built before.
  • Ability to "manage up" to C-level leadership, setting expectations and flagging potential issues before they happen.
  • A relentless competitive nature and hunger to win.

How We'll Support You

Ogilvy celebrates its people. Fully. Enthusiastically. Unhesitatingly. We'll empower you with the tools you'll need to succeed. We'll give you the autonomy to seek out new paths and better ways of doing things. We'll support you with colleagues who are experts in their disciplines, drawn from across the Ogilvy network.
