THE ROLE
The Bartender reports to the Food and Beverage Manager. Bartender responsibilities include educating customers on our drink's menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, and up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts.
This position will interact with everyone in the hotel so you must have strong and adaptable interpersonal skills, meaning you can get along with anyone. Another key need for this role is their ability organize drinks as customers place their order. Getting the details right for a client or guest can possibly make or break their experience.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Serve and clear food and beverage items in an unobtrusive and professional manner
  • Be familiar with the menus, including preparation, ingredients and description
  • Be familiar with the beverage list, including glassware used
  • Follow the established procedures to ensure knowledgeable, correct and efficient order taking
  • Prepare and service beverages for servers and guests in a speedy, efficient and professional manner
  • Ensure that minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages
  • Carry trays, bus and reset tables with the appropriate items
  • Handle payment for all guest checks
  • Complete closing financial work and shut down and cleaning of bar area
WHAT WILL YOU NEED:
  • Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Must have NJ ABC License and/or must acquire within 60 days of hire date
  • Minimum of 2 years of food and beverage experience
  • Great wine and food knowledge
  • Able to work well unsupervised
  • Computer skills helpful but not required
  • Able to work alone without direct supervision
