Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality CT images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures., Promotes service excellence in all interactions as outlined in the Key Behaviors in the YNHH Core Success Factors. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Operates CT scanners using age and dose appropriate protocols and related medical equipment necessary to produce quality CT images for diagnosis or treatment safely and efficiently.
    • 1.1 Uses technical skill and knowledge of cross-section anatomy to perform CT exams using appropriate imaging protocols, independently and efficiently.
  • 2. Performs quality and compassionate patient care in order to ensure patient cooperation, safety and satisfaction.
    • 2.1 Identifies patients accurately 100% of the time using designated scripts for communication as directed according to departmental policy as observed by supervisor or other hospital staff.
  • 3. Performs various record keeping, communication and customer service functions in order to ensure goals of the department are met and operations run efficiently.
    • 3.1 Relays pertinent information to radiologists or other technical staff to minimize errors due to lack of communication, especially during change of shift, as noted by supervisor.
  • 4. Participates in various teaching, learning, and research opportunities in order to further professional knowledge and expertise or to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
    • 4.1 Is receptive to teaching CT technologists, student technologists, radiology residents and fellows, as observed by supervisor or input from staff or students.
  • 5. To enhance the patient experience in Diagnostic radiology all staff will be responsible to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Test & Treatment section of our Press Ganey Survey.
    • 5.1 ? Staff will present themselves in a friendly and courteous manner; Staff will identify themselves and their role while encouraging a Patient and Family Center experience. ? Staff will fully explain procedure and ask if the patient has any additional questions about the procedure. ? Staff will address any comfort issues a patient may have prior to starting procedure. ? Staff will thank patient once procedure is completed and ask the patient if they have any additional questions. ? Staff must meet the above goals and fiscal year threshold value, which was last fiscal year actual for a 2 rating on review. ? Staff must meet the above goals and exceed fiscal year threshold value by +.2 for a 3 rating on review. ? Staff must meet the above goals and exceed fiscal year threshold value by +.4 for a 4 rating on review.
  • 6. Chaperone patients when necessary

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Satisfactory completion of an A.M.A. approved program in Radiologist Technology with ARRT certification.

EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine CT imaging.,

LICENSURE

RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), (ARRT) CT Certification, Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Proficient in routine CT imaging techniques, above average knowledge of cross section anatomy, computer/Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication/customer service skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
