The Supervisor, Mental Health, Acute PHP is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating programming and patient care activities.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of Mental Health at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Assures that requirements for certification, licensure and accreditation are met and maintained.
2. Provides individual case consultation on a needed basis.
3. Reviews and signs clinical assessments, treatment plans and monitors the clinical record as a whole, provides feedback to team members, assures compliance with regulation.
4. Works with the program medical director/prescriber to develop programming and problem solve.
5. Maintains "open door" policy for team members in order to voice complaints, concerns or ideas.
6. Regularly schedules and/or conducts and records team meetings, huddles.
7. Consults with and advises program managers of problems related to clinical operation within the program, documentation and adherence to BHS standards.
8. Coordinates and/or participates in community benefit activities such as health fairs and conferences.
9. Actively participates in outside professional organizations as required/needed.
10. Manages Program Schedule and coordinates coverage as needed.
11. Functions as a clinician on a limited basis by completing intake assessments, managing a caseload, providing individual counseling and facilitating groups weekly.
12. Observes clinician's performance during patient treatment and provides feedback to team members, completes performance evals as assigned, maintains team member files.
13. Supervises referrals to the program, schedules intake appointments, troubleshoots issues with referral sources, assigns cases.
14. Oversees MD/APN's program schedule blocks in EMR to ensure patients are scheduled with prescriber within regulatory requirements.
15. Coordinates with RN to assure follow up with patient care needs- medication administration, labs, UDS, nutrition consultations, care coordination with medical providers.
16. Assists in coordinating transportation of clients.
17. Participates in performance improvement activities.
18. Maintains upkeep and organization of program EOC
19. Other duties and/or projects as assigned
20. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Masters in Social Work or related fields.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of mental health.
3. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Experience with the SPMI and Co-Occurring population
2. Experience with NJSAMS.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
2. Professional Counselor License or NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
2. Supervisor certification in social work or addiction counseling.
