This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Marotta Controls team!
Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing products to meet customer's requirements including all design, functional, material, and test requirements from the customer's component and sub-tier specifications. The specific assignments and responsibilities will be consistent with the level of experience of the engineer. Regular interaction required with other engineers and test technicians as well as frequent contact with suppliers, contractors, and customers. Occasional light travel may be involved.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work on products from conception through design review, collaborate with fabrication, and ultimately witness and participate in qualification. This position requires attention to detail, creative thinking, willingness of hands on testing, and collaborative team work.
Job requirements:
  • B.S in Engineering is required as a minimum - Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent. Advanced technical degree is desirable for this position.
  • 3-5 years minimum design experience with a variety of valves and fluid control devices preferred
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls
  • Solid analytical skills are required: stress analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow
  • Ability to solve complex mechanical, static and dynamic problems
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and compressible flow
  • Must work precisely, accurately, and with close attention to all details
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge
  • Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Superior communication skills
  • Defense/aerospace experience a plus
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance, therefore you must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance
  • Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
  • Must be a US Citizen
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the team to create, update, and review drawings and bills of materials for new and legacy components
  • Develop test requirements and create procedures and reports essential to all qualification and production requirements
  • Maintain ongoing surveillance of customer-driven changes, with written notification to Contracts Administrator or Program Manager, including program impact assessment
  • Ensure accuracy of all drawings procedures, and reports on the project. This includes but is not limited to tolerance stack-ups, specification compliance, material specification, critical design notes, procedure requirements, and report data.
  • Communicate technical and schedule problems, in a timely manner, to Engineering Manager / Director, Contracts Administrator, and Program Manager when applicable
  • Manage all duties per ISO 9000: Procedure 4.1 Design Control
  • Supervision/oversight of engineering assistants, documentation personnel, design personnel , and test personnel on project activities as required
Additional / Job Responsibilities:
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
Work Environment:
  • This job interacts in a professional office environment, Engineering Lab, and manufacturing environments. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, hand tools, test equipment, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing, ESD and foot protection (as required).
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Thursday 9 hours and 4 hours on Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.
  • Some travel may be expected for this position (20%) including Test Labs (e.g. EMI), vendor, and customer visits.

  • Job may require Lab bench work, including manipulation of small objects and use of hand tools and test equipment.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds
