ABOUT THE POSITION

Site/Civil Design Engineer - Land Development | Hybrid | Hauppauge, NY

VHB's Hauppauge, NY office is seeking an experienced Site/Civil Design Engineer to support our growing land development practice.

Responsibilities

    Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports and specifications for a multitude of land development projects
  • Civil engineering for residential and commercial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design site, and roadway layout
  • Preparation and/or reviewing design criteria, drawings and specifications
  • Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentation
  • Assist in the preparation of permitting, design and construction documents
  • Project task financial performance, and management of small or medium projects
  • Attending meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Technical and design report writing

Skills and Attributes

  • Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with GIS Systems, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field of study required
  • Master's degree a plus
  • 3-5 years site/civil design engineering experience required
  • 5-8 years of civil engineering experience preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • EIT expected (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $75,000-107,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
