Job Description

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Scientists with experience in novel stable isotope geochemistry methods, with a particular focus on, but not limited to, transition metals. The successful candidate(s) will be part of a dynamic group of researchers working on innovative development and application in isotope geochemistry, with a current focus on potassium, nickel, antimony, tungsten and uranium. The NICER (Novel Isotopes in Climate, Environmental and Rock) Lab () and its research group studies a range of problems in large-scale Earth geochemistry, cosmochemistry, isotopic enrichment (e.g. for fusion research), environmental pollution, and biomedicine. These positions will be based at the LDEO campus in Palisades, New York, in the research group of Alex Halliday.

Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in isotope geochemistry or cosmochemistry. Knowledge in ultra-low blank clean chemical procedures for trace element separation, double spiking, and mulitple-collector inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS) is required.

The search will remain open for at least 30 days after the advertisement appears and will continue until the position is filled.

Initial appointment will be for (1) year with continuation dependent on available funding and research progress.

The Lamont campus values diversity and inclusion, and encourages applications from members of underrepresented minority groups.
