Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Site Manager to work on a project based out of Queens, NY. This is a great opportunity for tremendous career growth and development in the A/E/C industry!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Full-time, on-site Environmental Site Manager (ESM) of all environmental requirements during construction phase;
  • Point of contact for environmental matters with emphasis on administration, organization, and tracking of environmental compliance items per project specification requirements;
  • Track and monitoring work under environmental management plans; organize other reporting requirements related to environmental from other pertinent and related items in the specifications;
  • Attend meetings called by the Design-Build and project team including designer, contractor, agencies and other involved parties;
  • Prepare and support tracking tools such as Excel and Word kept documents;
  • File and organize environmental records;
  • Coordinate the field the work of other Tectonic environmental staff on the site as required;
  • Perform field oversight of environmental inspector sampling and testing in areas of various team member's specific expertise;
  • Prepare or assist in preparing ongoing reports and forms to be compliant with specifications;
  • The environmental elements of the contractor's activities the ESR will oversee and monitor include:
    • Environmental plan compliance, identification of all requirements and compliance with frequency-based reporting;
    • Chemical commodity review, review of chemicals and submittals;
    • Dust (Silica) control, monitoring of activities of contractor's subcontractor's conducting abatement;
    • SWPPP compliance and inspections, record keeping and reporting;
    • Waste handling per WMP and sampling of waste materials;
    • Spill prevention measures compliance and record keeping;
    • Removal and disposal of contaminated & hazardous soil & water;
    • Lead containing material disturbance administration of subcontractor activities and monitoring;
    • Removal of various hazardous materials (e.g., PCB or mercury containing, or electrical equipment);
    • Vector control, recording of measures and records;
    • Asbestos work coordination of activities.
  • As time allows, the ESM will assist with D-B team with other matters related to the implementation of the contractor's work as it relates to environmental matters;
  • Perform environmental analysis of data, performing studies and research, including: determining NYSDEC Part 375, DER-10 and State Environmental Quality Review regulatory requirements; ACE, Federal NEPA, USFWS and ACE permitting and consultation procedures; application of local codes; and preparing reports and work products for final QA/QC review;
  • Conduct research, regulatory consultation, and direct oversight of project specific investigations and field services;
  • Prepare data for client task order and vendor compliance reports; compiling project documentation, and assisting with monitoring project schedules and budgets;
  • Coordinate site visits to gather data and perform site analyses for various projects and coordination of civil land development and environmental tasks;
  • Perform or assist project management on all phases of the project, including project commencement, organization, tracking, project work, invoicing, and deliverables, including collaborating with project teams to coordinate the process of providing high quality deliverables to our clients;
  • Review the work and assignments of junior staff as applicable on certain assigned projects; coordinate other project and senior level staff input and tasks;
  • Retain, direct and coordinate sub-consultants proposals, work phase, report/work products, and budget, and issuance of purchase orders;
  • Assist with preparing scope, schedules, and fees for the preparation of relevant proposals; and
  • All related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Geology, or similar;
  • Any position related professional certifications, training, or licenses are desirable; this position requires obtaining OSHA safety training within a reasonable period of time upon commencement of employment;
  • Basic understanding of contaminant studies, ecological studies, ad USACE / DEC permitting, including wetlands and T&E desired;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to represent the Company in a professional manner;
  • Functional computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, PDF programs, as well as the ability to utilize various software programs, time reporting systems, and other related computer applications; GIS software experience is a plus;
  • A valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle are required for occasional site visits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to move around the job site and inspect, observe, move, operate, and/or transport documents, materials and/or field-testing equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Such operable equipment includes, but is not limited to, peristaltic sampling pumps, photoionization detectors, battery packs, and augering instruments. The employee is also regularly required to traverse the job-site while recording information and must frequently position themselves appropriately to gain access to necessary testing materials and equipment and to perform tests near wells and on the ground. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 27 lbs. The employee is constantly working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, biological hazards conditions and sometimes working in the office environment. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients both orally and in writing through Corporate communication systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer and other related office machinery, such as printers, and fax machines. This position also requires the frequent operation of a motor-vehicle, which sometimes may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the employee will be required to undergo a Hazwoper Physical and enroll in our medical surveillance program; the employee will be required to obtain respirator clearance and primarily utilize a Half Face Negative Pressure respirator, although the use of other respirators may be required as per the project requirements.

PAY RANGE
Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitable across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 / year
