Environmental Health and Safety Manager

As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for the health and safety of the workforce, environmental permitting and registrations, hazmat, and worker's compensation claims. The EHS manager is also responsible for making sure the company and its employees are meeting EHS regulations and OSHA safety standards. This position interacts with many different agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEC, and the City of Beacon. You will report to the General Manager and be part of the site management team. This on-site position is based in Beacon, New York. The salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000 annually.

A day in the life of the EHS Manager can look like:

  • Daily Safety Walks and interactions with Production Workers. The majority of the day is spent in the manufacturing plant.
  • Update, maintain and ensure compliance and reporting with confined space entry, emergency contingency clan, hazardous communication, hearing conservation, hot work, forklift, lockout/tag-out, mill Rescue, PPE, radiation safety, respiratory protection, storm water pollution prevention plan, Tier II, TRI, Title V and other programs as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the AMMEGA Golden Rules of Safety throughout the organization.
  • Lead and complete root cause analysis for hazards, near misses and injuries.
  • Develop safety meeting cadence and provide guidance to managers on conducting the safety briefs.
  • Train and keep up to date all managers on safety and environmental related topics.
  • Complete new hire orientation for safety and environmental topics
  • Update and maintain the information in the SDS computer database.
  • Maintain all safety training and worker's compensation claims files for all employees.
  • Enter all incidents and near misses in the AMMEGA database.
  • Maintain and update daily, weekly and monthly KPI's for AMMEGA. Complete all reporting of KPI data.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and complete all annual filings and postings.
  • Stay up to date on OSHA law changes.
  • Provide guidance to ensure operations are within OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain inventory for safety and first aid supplies.
  • Schedule annual hearing and fit testing with vendor.
  • Responsible for workers compensation program including claim filing and record keeping.
  • Administer safety shoe and eyeglass program.
  • On-call responsibilities for all safety-related issues that arise.

We are looking for you to have:

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science degree in EHS or related Safety/Engineering field
  • Minimum 5 year experience in EHS role (CSP, CIH is plus but not required).
  • Prior Environmental reporting experience (TRI, Tier II, Title V, etc.)
