Job Description

The Theatre Program of Columbia University School of the Arts seeks to fill a position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Theatre (Acting/Directing/Producing), to begin July 1, 2024. The successful candidate will play a key cross-disciplinary role in a complex and multi-faceted MFA program with concentrations in Acting, Directing, Dramaturgy, Playwriting, Theatre Management and Producing, and Stage Management. We invite applications from dynamic and dedicated teachers with a commitment to service and leadership. They will be expected to craft and teach a variety of courses based in their creative expertise that can move across disciplines and speak to the Program's ongoing commitment to the collaborative process of theatre making. In the future, they may be asked to serve as Chair of the Theatre Program.

Minimum Degree Required: BA/BS or equivalent undergraduate degree. Preferred Degree Required: MFA/graduate degree. The successful candidate will come from a strong acting, directing, or producing background. A minimum of seven years of professional experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate level is required. Significant professional experience in one or more theatrical disciplines is preferred. Equivalent professional experience required.
