Major Responsibilities:
The scholar filling this position will conduct a research and publication agenda that advances Rutgers Graduate School of Education's pursuit of advancing excellence and equity in education; demonstrate scholarly productivity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals, securing external research support, and presenting at national and international scholarly conferences; contribute to the growth of both teacher education and doctoral programs; participate in program development and innovation; develop and teach courses in teacher education. We especially welcome candidates whose professional experience, community engagement, and personal background have facilitated their understanding of and ability to better serve students from historically marginalized communities in disrupting systemic educational inequities.
Specifically, we seek a dynamic scholar committed to critical, community engaged, and collaborative approaches to advancing equity, excellence, and social justice in education through active research, teaching, and service. The ideal candidate will have experience working with schools and/or community-based organizations serving linguistically, culturally, racially, ethnically, and economically diverse communities and a commitment to advancing equity-focused and community engaged pedagogies within the GSE teacher preparation programs.
Candidates should have an understanding of curriculum development and experience or interest in program leadership, innovation, and development. We welcome candidates in issues of urban education, diversity, and social justice with a variety of backgrounds. The scholar filling this position will participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; teach and advise students at all levels; and contribute to the service mission of the Graduate School of Education and the university.

Minimum Education and Experience
Applicants are required to have earned a doctoral degree from an accredited major research university with a specialization in teacher education and urban education (urban teacher preparation, racial equity and justice in education, Black and teachers of color sustainability, teachers' mental health and wellness). In screening applicants, we will be looking for evidence of demonstrated commitment to addressing diversity, equity, and social justice in preK-12 education with an emphasis on disrupting systemic inequalities; scholarly accomplishments aligned with securing competitive external research funding; commitment to a strong, productive, and externally funded research program; and demonstrated preK-12 teaching experience and effective teaching at the university level.
