Overview

TRC is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our New York, NY office. This position would be working within our Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene business unit within our Environmental Sector to provide business development and management of Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene projects.


Responsibilities

  • Perform indoor air quality, mold, and industrial hygiene assessments and water sampling in commercial, residential, industrial and government settings.
  • Ordering and organization of various sampling media and safety supplies.
  • Calibrate and maintain scientific instrumentation.
  • Perform various direct read, integrated air monitoring, and water sampling surveys/assessments.
  • Prepare chains of custody and proper packaging of samples.
  • Prepare project daily logs.
  • Plan and execute field services, including ordering equipment and supplies, delivering to the site and laboratories, and tracking all to ensure on-time delivery and results.
  • Coordination and execution of health and safety, industrial hygiene, indoor environmental, mold/bacteria, Legionella, and water intrusion services.
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, specifications, work plans, drawings, and operation and maintenance program documents.
  • Perform project oversight and coordination with contractors.
  • Attend pre-bid walkthroughs, interact and communicate with clients, contractors and regulatory agency representatives.
  • Travel to remote locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut as needed. Travel outside of these states is possible for emergency or special service needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and train junior Industrial Hygiene staff.
  • Review RFQs and assist in preparing proposals.
  • Engage in TRC Safety and Quality programs and adhere to the program requirements.
  • Participate in TRC groups and organizations to advance personal and TRC growth.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, and delivery of responsive, high-quality services for the Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health & Safety markets.
  • Cross-sell and increase business from accounts under management, working with other company project managers and sales professionals on developing efficient business development strategies for new and existing customers.
  • The successful candidate will be experienced and capable of working independently with expertise in select technical areas, and will be capable or working independently, leading teams, training others. The candidate must be able to interpret field conditions and sampling results and have excellent writing skills to prepare reports for senior review.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the indoor air quality and industrial hygiene services.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Industrial Hygiene, Science or Engineering related field preferred.
  • One or more of the following certifications are preferred: NYS Mold Assessor; OSHA 40 HAZWOPER, OSHA 30 Construction Safety. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified NYS Asbestos Inspector/NYC Investigator; Asbestos Designer and/or Asbestos Project Monitor/Air Sampling Technician; Lead Based Paint Inspector/Risk-Assessor (EPA and/or NJ); NJ AST
  • New York City public agency experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read project specifications and drawings.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage various work schedules and situations related to emergency response scenarios.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Intuitive and creative thinker. Understanding of their surroundings and reason the services are being provided. A consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offers solutions when needed.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools.
  • Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $80,000-$110,000 .Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $30.00 - USD $40.00 /Yr.
