Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's New England region has an immediate need for Survey Equipment Operators to join our Geomatics/Survey team.


Responsibilities

    Perform various land surveying tasks under the direction of the crew leader including; Operation, transport and setup of Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS, and other Land Surveying equipment.
  • Keep basic notes to assist the crew leader and remain productive
  • Able to communicate clear directions to other crew members
  • Reconnaissance and recovery of Land Surveying markers
  • Ability to transport Land Surveying Equipment, navigate and traverse through difficult terrain, environments, and wooded areas
  • Maintains proper care of all survey equipment
  • Perform surveying tasks related to Boundary and Topographic Surveys

Skills and Attributes

  • Desire and ability to learn and use different types of GPS, Robotic, and Total Station Instruments
  • Understands and uses mathematical concepts related to surveying
  • Understands the basics of Boundary and Topographic Surveys
  • Able to think critically
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients
  • Experience with FDOT projects and procedures is extremely desirable, but not required

Qualifications

  • 0-1 year of experience or willingness to learn using standard survey equipment (1-4 years of prior experience surveying experience is preferred)
  • Must be detail oriented, willing to travel and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
  • Experience with Trimble equipment preferred
  • Experience with Leica survey equipment desirable, but not required
  • AutoCAD experience desirable, but not required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
