HDR NJ Transportation Group is seeking to hire a Senior Traffic Engineer to work on transportation projects.

The primary duties of the Senior Traffic Engineer will include producing design criteria, engineering reports, design plans, design calculations, and specifications for transportation projects. The Sr. Traffic Engineer will be part of a team completing the necessary analysis, design, and calculations required for the project. It is expected that the candidate be a team player ready to work with the rest of the project staff in a collaborative environment and help build the technical performance of the group. This individual is expected to take an active mentoring role and encourage, motivate and help develop less experienced staff engineering skills. The Sr. Traffic Engineer shall be familiar with both local and national design requirements. The Sr. Traffic Engineer will also participate in business development and contribute to the growth of the transportation group. Business development participation will include collaboration with or actively leading members of proposal pursuit teams, participation in engineering associations and representing the organization at conferences and events.

In the role of Senior Traffic Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform traffic engineering design including traffic modeling and traffic analysis, traffic signal design, signing and striping design; coordination with other disciplines
  • Perform traffic control/staging (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) design
  • Perform crash analysis and safety studies
  • Ensure that work product meets client's requirements for NJDOT/NJTA projects
  • Perform detailed checks and/or quality control reviews of design work performed by other design team members.
  • Serve as traffic engineering task leader.
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE in NJ. PTOE or NJ Professional Planner (PP) desired, but not required
  • Minimum of 10 years traffic analysis and traffic engineering/ design.
  • Hands-on experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
