GILBANE has an immediate opportunity for an Economic Inclusion Coordinator to support our bussiness unit in Connecticut. The selected Economic Inclusion Coordinator will work out of our Glastonbury, CT office.

Gilbane is seeking an Economic Inclusion Coordinator to support implementation of initiatives to maximize participation of Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) and diverse workers on Gilbane construction projects in the region. This role supports the Economic Inclusion Manager/Director in all aspects of program management. This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities

DUTIES

Programmatic Support

    Helps administer Gilbane's Rising Contractor program, including managing relationships with participating businesses and internal staff associated with the program, organizing classes, and conducting targeted outreach for new applicants.
  • Organizes regular events with MWBE businesses - lunch and learns, workshops, talks, etc.
  • Assists with organizing and administering sessions of Gilbane's Economic Inclusion Task Force, including helping track progress on multiple strategic initiatives.
  • Help develop program for Gilbane's Economic Inclusion Peer Group sessions

Outreach Support

  • Assists with outreach events for MWBE businesses
  • Assists with Pre-Bid/Preproposal meetings to communicate economic inclusion requirements
  • Maintains documentation of outreach activities, including call lists, RSVP lists, attendance lists, etc.
  • Works closely with the Purchasing department and project team to ensure MWBEs are amply represented on bid lists and communicates with potential bidders to confirm interest prior to bid list finalization
  • Builds MWBE representation Recruits promising firms to register with Gilbane and provide documentation to initiate the prequalification process and provides continuous follow-up to ensure all required information is received

Driving MWBE Participation on Projects

  • Helps increase adoption of new process and procedure outlined in the Economic Inclusion Playbook by becoming a subject matter expert on the material, ensuring project teams know what is expected of them and following up on outstanding items in a timely matter
  • Checks in with project teams on a weekly basis during buyout phase to help the team with any issues related to economic inclusion and to ensure the project is on track to meet goals
  • Help build and maintain directory of go-to MWBEs that provide professional services, suppliers,

Track MWBE Participation and Workforce Diversity

  • Conducts analysis for various purposes including data on MWBE businesses, Internal MWBE performance on our projects
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel to track and monitor participation by MWBEs and the diversity of workforce on Gilbane projects.
  • Vets data to identify errors and inconsistencies; analyzes data to identify the story the data is telling, including any trends or red flags.
  • Helps with the effort to increase project data collection and processing in order to identify areas of success that can be highlighted in case studies and proposals.

Build up Gilbane's List of Prequalified MWBEs

Gilbane utilizes a prequalified list of contractors to bid and execute work on its projects. A primary responsibility of this role would be to increase representation of MWBE contractors, consultants and suppliers on that list. This includes:

Foster Strong Relationships with MWBE Contractors

  • Organizes introductory meetings between MWBE contractors and consultants and Gilbane staff
  • Maintains positive relationships with MWBE contractors; may include walking contractors through why they may not qualify for a particular scope/scale of work, offering unsuccessful bidders access to constructive feedback, etc.

Networking/Community Affairs

  • Maintains list of external stakeholders (organizations, clients, and small and diverse businesses)
  • Assists with community events and organizational activities that promote economic inclusion or provide networking opportunities

Build up Database of go-to MWBE Suppliers and Consultants

  • Develop and maintain a database of preferred MWBE suppliers and consultants that can be utilized by the organization to supplement participation on Gilbane projects.

Proposal Support

  • Reads and understands small business/inclusion and diversity requirements as stated in the RFP/RFQ
  • Draft and edit economic inclusion content for proposal/presentation materials
  • Assist with client interviews
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
  • Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Excel
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Some experience with contractors and construction preferred but not required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong communication skills
  • Passion/interest in race and gender equity

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For Connecticut this ranges from $53,300.00-$73,300.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
