The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The Associate will work with Dr. Erum Nadeem primarily on project designed to implement and evaluate trauma-informed multi-tiered systems of support for schools. There will also be opportunities to engage in other projects focused on trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices in schools and the delivery of school-based mental health more broadly. This position can begin at the candidate's earliest availability, with salary and benefits commensurate with Rutgers University guidelines.
The successful candidate will be part of the research and evaluation core on a multi-year project funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This is a large collaborative partnership grant designed to implement and evaluate a trauma-informed multi-tiered systems of support in a large urban school district. The program involves a districtwide effort to train and coach teachers in trauma-informed, culturally responsive classroom practices, revise disciplinary practices, implement screening and referral services, and to provide trauma-focused to students. The project also involves partnerships with community mental health agencies, police and fire departments, the public library system, and families, among others. The postdoctoral fellow's primary role will be to support the evaluation of implementation outcomes, program outcomes, and partnership processes. There will also be opportunities to engage in other research projects focused on school-based mental health, educational and mental health equity, and access to care more broadly. Additional responsibilities include collaborative grant-writing, writing scholarly publications, participation in professional conferences, and mentorship of research assistants.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
Candidates must have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, Community Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or a related field. Core areas of interest/expertise should include school mental health, mental health services research, intervention research, and implementation science. Candidates must value partnered research models, need strong skills in mixed-methods data analysis and experience in writing manuscripts for publication. Candidates should also be proficient in quantitative analytic methods. Candidates with the capacity for working independently and as part of a diverse, collaborative research team are highly valued. Candidates must also have a commitment to supporting an equitable, inclusive work climate.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with trauma-focused interventions, teacher consultation, classroom climate, and social-emotional learning is desirable.
