Recruitment/Posting Title | Assistant Professor AY (TT) |
---|---|
Department | SEBS-Dept Marine & Coastal Science |
Salary | Annual Salary |
Posting Summary | The Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences (DMCS) is seeking an Assistant Professor (AY) tenure track faculty to join the department. Our planet is undergoing rapid and significant change due to human activity which has perturbed the climate system. The changes in the ocean in the short term will alter food-webs and biogeochemistry. Based on the strategic plan for the Department of Marine and Coastal (DMCS), we seek to strengthen research and teaching in understanding the evolution global biogeochemical cycles and its role in maintaining a habitable planet. Given a growing focus of the Rutgers New Brunswick on the consequences of climate change, we are prioritizing a faculty member focused on biological processes, especially around molecular (genes/omics) and microbial processes, regulating ocean biogeochemistry. Additionally, during faculty retreats, we have planned the development of a series of new courses relevant to scientific underpinnings, consequences, and future trajectories of climate change combined with courses directly addressing the pseudoscience that is used to sow distrust in climate sciences and paralysis in integrated solutions. These new courses will be a core element in our evolving undergraduate (UG) program. |
