Overview

Leads and oversees all aspects of data analysis for Clinical Operations and Pharmacy functions, which includes but are not limited to, data collection and submission, quality control, and reporting and analysis. Oversees analytical projects related to operational, clinical, and quality analyses and ad-hoc requests. Queries, analyzes, and reports on member data in order to provide clinical decision support. Works with staff to ensure data integrity of reports and analyses. Collaborates with the Business Intelligence, Information Technology, and clinical/business operations in reporting and dashboarding to support operational needs. Works under general direction.


Compensation:

$85,000.00 - $106,300.00 Annual

What You Will Do

  • Supervises team that is responsible for data analysis, reporting, and interpretation of all clinical operations reporting, supporting Care Management, Utilization Management, the Assessment Unit, and Pharmacy.
  • Develops reports for clinical and non-clinical teams that increase visibility into operations, monitor staff productivity, measures clinical outcomes and utilization patterns, and facilitates process improvement.
  • Acts as liaison to translate clinical/business needs to technical requirements.
  • Performs detailed recurring and ad hoc analyses in response to requests from internal and external customers. Analyzes data, identifies trends, reviews and evaluates findings. Summarizes data in user-friendly reports constructing dashboards, tables, graphs, and providing statistical and qualitative analysis.
  • Designs and implements complex data transformations to enable report automation.
  • Instructs and mentors department staff to new technology as well as existing tools and methods on the most efficient way of working with data sets for analysis and reporting.
  • Identifies and summarizes trends in member utilization and care gaps and present key findings to stakeholders with recommendations for areas of improvement.
  • Performs root cause analysis to identify gaps in current workflows; meets with department leadership to solicit cooperation, establish priorities, and resolve problems. Provides business owners with analytical support for resolution of data management and business problems.
  • Gathers requirements from stakeholder units, performs systems analysis and solution design, tests new or enhanced systems and workflows, and develops support documentation to meet new operational needs.
  • Develops a strong understanding of how clinical operational workflows, care management workflows, and business process changes map to data stored within database systems and ensures that this knowledge is disseminated to team members and other data consumers.
  • Serves as the primary liaison amongst clinical and administrative staff and IT to create and modify EHR documentation protocols that allow for clean and informative data output while also mitigating the administrative work of front-line staff.
  • Defines the business requirements for the business intelligence and analytics teams to build dashboards for oversight and monitoring.
  • Develops data quality specifications and designs. Coordinates and supports integrated data systems for analyzing validating information.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of reports and analyses produced by the analytics team.
  • Performs all duties inherent in a supervisory role. Provides primary input to hiring, firing, promotion and reward decisions for direct reports and evaluates staff performance for direct reports.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Bio/Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Informatics or related field with equivalent knowledge required
  • Master's Degree in Bio/Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Informatics or related field with equivalent knowledge preferred
  • Minimum of three years progressive experience performing increasingly complex data analysis and interpretation, preferably in a health care provider or insurance plan organization required
  • Experience with data extraction and manipulation required
  • Advanced proficiency with SAS, SQL and Excel required. Strong analytical and statistical skills (both qualitative and quantitative) required
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem solving skills, including the ability to prioritize and organize a variety of tasks across cross-functional teams and external entities required
  • Proficiency conducting statistical analysis with R, SAS, or Python preferred
  • Proficiency creating data visualizations and dashboards using MicroStrategy, Tableau, PowerBI or other visualization software preferred
  • Advanced personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access required
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Exceptional critical thinking, problem solving, communication and client service skills required
  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment required
