SUMMARY

Youth Care Worker in Unaccompanied Migrant Youth Center

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision of all children in the program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Utilize the therapeutic intervention techniques received during TCI training, and any other program-related techniques.
  • Maintain security in buildings, grounds, and other posts, intervenes during emergencies or crisis situations.
  • Supervise movement of the youth inside and outside following the facility policy and procedures which includes taking periodic counts of the youths.
  • Monitor, supervise and participate with youth in various activities (i.e. educational outings, recreational, faith-based services, physical education classes, etc.)
  • Maintain multiple environments following coding and code management best practices and good documentation.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent degree and a minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of childhood development.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with families, staff and community partners.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of screening and assessments related to child development and to child and care giver functioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support for and problem solve with direct care and supervisory staff as well as system partners.
  • Ability to effectively utilize a web-based data system to manage project information.
  • The ability to assist with the development of tactical and strategic plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $23.00 - $24.00 hourly
