Associate Program Director Internal Medicine Residency

Valley Health System in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is actively recruiting an Associate Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency.

Valley Health System (VHS) in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is actively recruiting an Associate Program Director for the newly accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. This position presents the opportunity to collaborate with the Program Director and the GME team to design, develop and operate a new training program to begin in July 2024. The incumbent will also be the clinic director for the IM continuity clinic. In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic excellence and be knowledgeable of ACGME policies and procedures.

Position Summary:
This position presents the opportunity to design, develop and operate a new training program as well as maintain a clinical practice at VHS. Assists the PD and APD/DAC to develop and execute a successful Residency Program Curriculum (the APD may chair the Program 's Curriculum Committee) and/or Clinical Competency Committee (CCC). Assist other faculty (such as Section Chiefs) with development of rotation specific goals and objectives for the Program Curriculum. Assists the APD/DAC in the educational and administrative tasks related to the Outpatient Center. Aids residents in developing ideas and facilitate connections with mentors for required scholarly project(s) (includes quality improvement, case reports, abstracts, and peer review research). Tracks resident scholarship and serves as a mentor to them regarding their future scholarly goals/fellowship applications. Supervise, teach and precept Residents and Students in the Outpatient Center. Prepare for and participate in both internal and external reviews of the program by the accrediting bodies and respond to any concerns or deficiencies that may arise as a result of these reviews, problem-solve, help identify resident candidates for annual awards, etc. In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic excellence and be knowledgeable of ACGME policies and procedures.

Position requirement:
MD or DO
American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine Board Certification
Prior Graduate Medical Education experience
Practicing Internal Medicine physician with an interest in academic medicine looking toward future leadership opportunities
Creative thinker with a demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
Possess strong administrative and team building skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Maintains up-to-date credentials including CV, License, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, documentation of hospital admitting privileges
